Technology is banned in chess matches but players can still use it when they train.
Paradoxically, the ban makes it easier to use technology to help you learn.
We should copy this in education - banning technology in exams will promote better use of it in the classroom.

Whatever you think about assisted dying, this bill is simply not fit for purpose.
It's impossible this bill before sorting out palliative care.
Palliative care is propped up by volunteers
Assisted dying will have private investors
That is not choice.
I was picking up a copy of today’s Guardian in the shop when a stranger said, ‘Nice choice but how good is your English? It’s an informative but complicated paper.’ I just nodded & said ‘ok, I try to read.’ 😆
This is the late astronaut Sally Kristen Ride. The first American woman in space aged 32. A scientist, a PhD in physics, and major member of the NASA research team.
I think I’d probably opt for her as an inspiration to young girls.
A year ago Maiden crossed the finish line of a gruelling 33,000 miles and became the the FIRST all-female crew crew to EVER WIN an around the world race. Don't remember it? Maybe they should have worn make up and tight fitting blue jumpsuits....… @maidenfactor#SaveWomensSports
Has any minister raised the impact of rap culture on the attitude of teenage boys towards girls? I understand that many of its performers and lyrics going back years express extreme misogyny. Given it's the number one music genre among the young, it might be worth thinking about.

I spoke at @UNESCO for International Women’s Day, on my mother’s birthday. She was an English instructor at Kabul University, banned from teaching. She fled Afghanistan for my future.
It led me to Columbia, and now Oxford, studying tech and law.
Education was our freedom.
This #InternationalWomensDay we want to bring more awareness to the challenges faced by women in prison.
Through our weekly choir sessions across multiple womens estates, we strive to continue empowering them by fostering purpose, confidence, community and hope #AccelerateAction
The gender pay gap for headteachers has grown - and in some cases it is the widest it has been for 13 years, @NAHTnews figures show #InternationalWomensDay

Being in opposition when Govt is right is hard. Getting airtime mostly requires disagreement! I admired how @Keir_Starmer & @JohnHealey_MP were so constructive in private briefings & from oppo benches when we were setting pace on Ukraine. There’s honour in doing same in return.
1,258 days since teenage girls have been banned from school.
799 days since women have been barred from university.
An entire generation of dreams silenced in Afghanistan. Education is not a privilege. It is a basic human right.
Well done to Izzy R and Poppy W on their selection into the @southernvipers_ EPP for 2024-25. Great role models for girls cricket at @CanfordSchool#excel

The beautiful sound of the Notre Dame ‘Worker’s Choir’ rehearsing. More than 80 engineers, architects, carpenters, crane operators, construction workers… who all worked on the Cathedral’s restoration have formed a choir that will perform inside Notre Dame next week.
“There will be a lot of disabled people who feel they don’t have a choice, that their life is so difficult to be included in society”

My first opportunity to ask Vladimir Putin a question since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It came at the end of the BRICS summit in Kazan. Producer @LizaShuvalova
The face of the most extraordinary courage, fired by righteous anger and powered by a strong sense of justice for all women and girls.
We all owe a debt to Gisele Pelicot for her bravery and grace.
1129 days since the Taliban banned teenage girls from school. 669 days since the Taliban banned women from going to university. Vice and virtue laws also ban women from speaking or showing their faces outside their homes. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
