They are mostly unskilled labor. Some work hard, some don’t. But the work is often not up to snuff. They also have now developed an attitude that they used to not have. They’ve become emboldened by the anti ice protests and act aggrieved where they used to be grateful to be in this country. All the ridiculous “stolen land” nonsense makes them think this land should be theirs. The Mexican - American war ended with Mexico ceding California and New Mexico to the US. The US paid Mexico 15 million dollars in 1848 and also paid off some of their debt obligations. There is a huge difference between the two countries. Mexico is very corrupt and everything requires multiple bribes to police, government officials, bankers - you name it. I can tell you this. If California was still part of Mexico, they’d be trying to come over the border in Oregon.

It wasn’t “the empire” asking Peter the question. It was other Jews from Jerusalem. It doesn’t mean that he had an accent per se. In the US the people in the south talk differently that the people in the north and people on the west coast different that the Midwest. It’s not like it was held against them.
