. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the social home I grew up in. The importance of home is the cornerstone of my career and that is why I’m a prominent campaigner for more social housing. We know there is no end to the housing crisis without building the social homes we need. 1.3 million households are on the waiting list for a safe, secure and stable home and a record number of children are growing up homeless and in temporary accommodation due to high rents and the lack of genuinely affordable social homes. Whoever gets the keys to No 10 on 4 July MUST COMMIT to to building the social homes the UK desperately needs - so a new generation can be proud to say: ‘We were #MadeInSocialHousing ‘ #Shelter @Shelter
