@MaryMyatt So interested in reading this. I have started teaching at a hopsital school (AP) and we get students in Y9 at the earliest really. So important to get what little of KS3 we have right and a whole new challenge after spending year sculpting a beautiful KS3 curriculum!
@MrBNewborn This is true, with KS3. We get a huge number of students joining in KS4 with gaps in KS3 so I suppose I am thinking from a different perspective and find it quite a rush to keep revising all in curriculum time, even with carful planning
@mrgeogaa@MrBNewborn I agree with this. I would go as far as saying that fieldwork should be undertaken for the love of it, for the experience, and to support understanding unfamiliar fieldwork, signed off by the school (like English speaking requirement).
@SusanSEnglish@AQAEnglish Always the same in geography papers. You have to download them as soon as they are uploaded after exams, they have the sources in for a short time. It is such a pain.
Really enjoyed this. Some lovely examples for all subjects- be a great focal point for our next faculty meeting, looking at ensuring assessment is uniform and comparable across a very wide range of subjects.
Assessment isnβt a post-mortem. Itβs the lifeblood of teaching. Specify what counts, teach it, check it, fix it. Stop sorting, start teaching. Make 100% possible for everyone.
New piece on five principles of assessment that actually improve teaching π

This is a wealth of knowledge. So many specific ideas to use, laid out so clearly. I've not had this many strategies to try out since 'Teach to the Top'. A great summer read before starting a new job next week. @lamb_heart_tea@MrsBallAP

@babs_woodward@kate_stockings We have this same problem- makes for such a short day. It takes ages to find one that will do a longer day. We often have to call to find out where they are- just today one trip from our school had a bus over 1 hr late. And the price.... π¬
