Closing off day 1 of the 11th Annual Oil & Gas Convention, @BanageSarah, the Head of Corporate Relations has stated that Uganda stands at the historic intersection of energy transformation and industrial revolution.
“The 60,000 barrels-per-day Refinery, expected to come online around 2030, will fundamentally restructure Uganda's economy, saving an estimated USD 2 billion annually in petroleum imports and, through downstream plastics, fertilizer, and petrochemical industries, completely altering the country’s raw material import landscape from net importer to regional supply hub.”
During the 11th Annual Oil & Gas Convention, the Chief Operating Officer, @SamanthaBarung1 has introduced UNOC’s Technical Services Business, a specialized arm of the company established to provide expert engineering, project management and technical solutions for Uganda’s oil and gas developments.
Bringing together skilled Ugandan professionals, the division will deliver services across the full project lifecycle from conceptual design and development to construction, operations and decommissioning ensuring projects are executed efficiently and to international standards.
The division is also committed to nurturing local talent and working with both public and private sector partners to capture and retain value within Uganda throughout the development and operational phases of oil and gas projects.
During the panel discussion at the 11th Annual Oil & Gas Convention, Eng. David Kasule, the Manager of Kabalega Industrial Park at UNOC provided insights into the progress of the industrial park, emphasizing its readiness to host investors and the range of bankable projects available.
He highlighted incentives and first mover advantages for businesses seeking to participate in Uganda’s growing petrochemical and industrial value chains.
At the 11th Annual Oil & Gas Convention Gilbert Kamuntu, the Chief Commercial Officer at UNOC, elaborated on the critical role of the refinery in enhancing energy security and enabling downstream industries.
He further outlined the strategic roadmap to First Oil, emphasizing the importance of integrated development across upstream, midstream, and downstream segments.
At the ongoing 11th Annual Oil & Gas Convention, UNOC leadership took center stage during a high level technical session focused on unlocking value across Uganda’s oil and gas sector.
The session, themed “Inside the Refinery, Kabalega Industrial Park: Bankable Projects, Incentives and First Mover Slots,” was chaired by @Comrade_Otoa, the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.
The 11th Annual Oil & Gas Convention is underway bringing together government, industry, and development partners under the theme “Fulfilling the Promise, Forging the Future.” The event is officiated by Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa and attended by senior government officials, development partners, industry leaders, international oil companies, the private sector, as well as UNOC Board Members and the Executive Committee.
Hon. Dr. @NankabirwaRS stated that Uganda’s oil and gas sector has moved from promise to execution, with the Tilenga and Kingfisher projects and EACOP progressing toward First Oil. She highlighted government focus on infrastructure, local content, and regulatory readiness, alongside investments in roads, Kabalega International Airport, and industrial parks. She emphasized responsible resource development, human capital growth, and positioning oil and gas as a driver of industrialization and long-term economic transformation.
