The Sibyl Conspiracy was the 1st novel I ever finished writing
1st draft took almost 15 years
My social media game is weak (for some good reasons) but I hope people might enjoy it.

@markemusgames There is also a scaling problem
when a slush pile involved full manuscripts being printed and mailed there was a practical speed bump where maybe dozens a day, 10 years ago it would be hundreds flowing in every a day, now with AI it would tens or even hundreds of thousands a day
@SmashedEars I would agree … I hope that as the reality none of these things make money that the fever will break
Unfortunately Amazon’s economic interest is these people loading slop then buying ads since ads spending not sales is their primary revenue stream from self published authors
Apparently there are 300,000 ebooks being released every month now up from 100,000 a month last year … I really doubt the number of people able to finish writing a book has 3X in a year
@jzpitts@NathanTheAuthor Couple things to keep in mind is the economics of retail bookstores …between the pricing incentives, payment for placement, consignment inventory, and sidelines
@budman_mark There’s too much of a risk because you can’t copyright materials created with generative AI … why would a publisher or studio risk wasting money in something that they can’t possibly control
@jmgwritten Sadly yes … I have a few in my life always chasing the new one and had to explain the realities of the book market space and remind them the gurus and course sellers are the only ones who will actually make money in this case
@haynesnell1963 I do ebooks only (as an indie I am preserving the physical and audio rights) but tends to depend on genre Sanderson in an interview said his sales now are 40% audio, 40% ebook, and 20% physical but most the physical sales are bought as collectible by people who did audio or ebook
@FictionsByAj No set number first couple of passes are a passing it through a couple of different word processor because they pick up different things, then having the computer read back the text … then more detailed until I find myself make happy to glad changes or changing things back
Just first the dumpster draft of novella 3 this one was tough for some reason but came together in the end … now the question is short story/novelette of sequel to The Sybil Conspiracy while this dumpster fire cools and I can edit it
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@KemalOnor Given 65% of traditionally published books will never turn a profit and almost 50% of the profit comes from the top 1% of performers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@CaffeinatedLiha Other than my novella or novellets 😉
Fahrenheit 451
Of Mice and Men
The Pearl
Old Man and the Sea
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Flowers for Algernon
Animal Farm
That should give a wide range of options
