Delighted that my PhD student @Tukur_Abdallah has successfully passed his PhD viva. His PhD examined the temperature dependency of seasonal coronaviruses; excellent work and a great achievement.
Many thanks to examiners: Qibo Zhang and
Timothy Barrow for acting
Well done, Tukur!

'Pill-on-a-thread' tests could replace endoscopies for half of all patients with Barrett’s oesophagus, a precursor to oesophageal cancer.
The capsule sponge test - developed @EarlyCancerCam@CRUKCamCentre - is less invasive and can be carried out by nurses and at GP practices, reducing the burden on NHS resources.
Hear what a difference it has already made to patients: https://t.co/6u3qgWTrIs

Just published in @TheLancet! We show that the capsule sponge improves Barrett's surveillance, helping prioritize high-risk patients for endoscopy & offering a more efficient, patient-friendly approach for low-risk individuals. https://t.co/Fs5vlq6yxT

Great news from the UK-led FLAIR trial! A chemo-free combo (ibrutinib + venetoclax) shows significantly better 5-year outcomes for CLL— 94% of patients alive & progression-free. A big step toward kinder, more effective treatments.
