Father of two convicted under new sex-harassment laws after grabbing woman’s hair and trying to kiss her on late-night train

David Stroud, 44, from Dartford, Kent, cornered a lone female passenger on a train from Hastings to London Bridge on April 3.

He sat beside her, leaned into her, told her she was “magical”, grabbed her hair and asked “can I kiss you?” while saying he loved her hair.

The woman said she felt trapped and repeatedly told him to stop. Stroud had been drinking.

He pleaded guilty at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court to harassing a woman because of her sex one of the first convictions under the new Section 4B Public Order Act.

Sentencing is due on June 9.
