The thing to remember: don't look at Budgets in isolation.
Taxes have been rising since 2021. The extra tax we're paying this year is the *cumulative* result of five successive Budgets, under three Chancellors.
This chart shows who's responsible & for how much.
I have to admit, I’m feeling a bit shaken up today.
Normally, when the TERFs come for me, I can brush it off and carry on. But when the abuse turns into threats, with people saying they’ll find out where I live, it becomes personal, and it’s genuinely unsettling.
All I’m doing is standing up for my trans brothers, sisters. I’m defending people who deserve the same dignity, respect and equality as everyone else. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
What I find so sickening is the venom some people are willing to spew without even trying to understand another person’s experiences or show a little compassion.
Sometimes, it feels like there’s simply no reasoning with these people. No matter what you say, they refuse to listen, and that’s where the feeling of futility creeps in.
But I refuse to let intimidation silence me. Trans people deserve to live their lives in safety, free from hatred, discrimination and fear. I will continue to stand alongside them, because doing what’s right shouldn’t come at the cost of your own peace of mind.
You don’t have to agree with everyone, but you should always be able to disagree without resorting to threats and intimidation.
Hate will never win through silence. I stand with the trans community today, tomorrow and always. 🏳️⚧️❤️
“Getting a better deal for Britain is part of this job, and I am standing up for British business.”
A stronger relationship with Europe means more opportunities for British businesses and a stronger economy.
The richest man in the world has so far spent over £400,000 on Tommy Robinson’s legal fees. He’s obviously an asset. That’s why he appeared in the Epstein files, with Steve Bannon telling Jeffrey Epstein that Tommy Robinson was “cheap @ any price”.
Farage has constantly lied all the time throughout his career, it's become habitual, especially when faced with any scrutiny.
Fortunately now there's plenty of people who can check his lies and call him out.
Tommy Robinson has been convicted by a jury of his peers.
We welcome his probable imprisonment. He has led campaigns of intimidation and harassment against journalists, activists, migrants and others for years.
We will continue our fight to destroy the rest of the far right.
Badenoch has forgotten that Thatcher sold off the family silver, Cameron ruined public services with austerity, Johnson ruined the economy for a generation with his Brexit deal. Then he pissed £billions up the wall with dodgy Covid loans and PPE contracts.
Then we had Mad Lizzy!
Victoria Derbyshire, "What did we learn about our living standards?"
Ben Chu, "1% growth over 10 years"
"We used to grow 2% every year"
That's one way of illustrating the enormous economic price Britain has paid for Brexit #RejoinEU
The OBR estimates that Brexit will leave the UK economy around 4% smaller in the long run than it would otherwise have been, with both imports and exports taking a substantial hit.
We were promised greater prosperity, more opportunities and a stronger economy outside the EU. Instead, we've added significant trade barriers with our largest trading partner during a period of extraordinary economic stagnation.
Brexit isn't responsible for every economic problem Britain faces, but it has made the challenge of improving living standards considerably harder.
And ordinary households are living with the consequences of that decision.
I was sat in front of Reform today.
One of their team was asked by the Chief Whip if they’d give up their seat for Nigel, which they agreed to.
But Nigel didn’t bother turning up….
🚨BREAKING🚨
TOP TOMMYTARDS Paul Thorpe (El THORPO based in Spain) and Richard “Dick” Inman @RbinmanRichard having a very normal one following the sentencing of Tommy Robinson🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a very rare occurrence that Farage attends the Commons. When there's a major event like the budget, he has to lie to explain his absence. As he lies every day, as a matter of course.
