Individuating from an abusive parent is such an important part of therapy.
We are biologically hardwired to want our parent to love us. So, if a child is not able to see an abusive parent as abusive; victim shame turns to self blame & becomes enmeshed in self concept & attachment
Am I the only one that sees a problem with working 8-9 hours a day and then going home to having about 4 hours to yourself which includes getting ready for the next day??? This is not life…
1/Trauma feeds trauma. Those who’ve had trauma as kids are
more likely to have trauma as adults. For Eg. if you’ve been exposed to violence as a kid, you can develop a tolerance for it; calm on the other hand, may feel intolerable simply because it feels foreign to you

Our new paper compared the capacity to switch and maintain attention to high and low calorie foods in high and low restrained eaters, finding high restrained eaters were faster to switch, but not to maintain their attention on high calorie foods 🤔 @LDondzilo @UWA_CARE@UWApsych
