The time to negotiate was at least a year ago if not 18 months ago after the ‘24 election.

Even still our position is so structurally weak that even 18 months ago a good deal was basically toast.

High taxation, burdensome regulation, lack of innovation and foreign investment, and poor productivity/competitiveness are all problems that pre-date Trudeau and Carney.

In reality asking anyone to step in and try to save things at the last minute is unfair.

It’s not emulating MAGA. It’s been an issue on both sides of the border for a long time. There’s a faction within the CPC that is more liberal (really, communist at this point) than conservative. They basically run the party and are the reason Canadians never get a real alternative to the @liberal_party.

Jenni Byrne is easily the greatest heel in Canadian politics. She is probably the most formidable villain Ottawa’s political class has ever seen. After months of complete radio silence, she drops one single, calculated tweet and set off an absolute nuclear detonation across the online conservative ecosystem.

To the Ottawa bubble, she is a shadowy myth. To anyone who served in Harper's regime or ran ground ops on a national tour, she was the hatchet woman guarding the front door. When you strip away the hysteria from commentators, her baseline political math is brutally accurate.

Canada remains a structurally left of centre country as engineered by Pearson and Pierre Trudeau. The path to a CPC government has never been about converting the suburban Laurentian belt through soft policy or polite moderation. It relies on a fractured left. When the NDP and the Liberals split the progressive vote, the Conservatives walk through the middle. But when Jagmeet Singh signed the supply and confidence agreement, he collapsed the NDP vote split, killing the competition for the Liberals.

The entire CPC war room strategy was dialed in to dismantle Justin Trudeau, and the polling proved it was working. Then the Liberal machine pulled off its ultimate pivot. They swapped Trudeau out for Mark Carney and instantly weaponized the whole Laurentian apparatus. Almost overnight, the legacy media and the Ottawa precinct manufactured an existential panic out of thin air, spinning American political noise and 51st state rhetoric into a fake national emergency.

With their sudden elbows up posturing, they successfully gaslit soft suburban voters and held their electoral coalition together. They managed to pocket an election they had no business winning, proving how smoothly the establishment can mobilize to protect its own power base when it wants to.

Pierre Poilievre was left fighting a rigged demographic map and a fully mobilized media machine. There was no campaign trick or ad buy that could out-maneuver that level of structural coordination.

That exact dynamic is why the squandering of the 2011 majority is the root reason why Pierre lost the last election. When Stephen Harper won his majority, the mandate should not have been administrative management. It should have been total war against the Laurentian state.

In a country where the civil service, the judiciary, the funding bodies, and the media ecosystem are permanently occupied by the left, a rare Conservative majority cannot just pass bills and manage the budget. It has to act like a conquering army. You take their castles, clear out the old partisan holdouts, and garrison those institutional levers with actual right-wing activists and movement loyalists to permanently shift the ground beneath Ottawa's feet. Instead, the Conservative government governed passively, and the Liberal deepstate simply waited out the storm before reasserting control.

You constantly see former operatives try to play this grizzled strategist character on television. Kory Teneycke and Dimitri Soudas can step onto any panel they want to play the seasoned party whisperer, but they will never come within 10 percent of the raw, atmospheric heat Jenni draws the second she walks into a room. She projects a level of unvarnished fear and aura that no PR firm can teach.

Kory loves playing the Chief strategist role for Ford, but when push came to shove in 2025 and Doug Ford needed to decide whether to pull the trigger on a premature provincial election ahead of the federal one, Ford ignored Kory and went directly to Jenni for advice. Kory has always been an over glorified staffer.

You can say what you want about Jenni vs Kory and Dimitri. In politics the only thing that really matters is loyalty and I've never once heard a story of Jenni being disloyal no matter how many shots that have been taken at her. However if we look into Kory and Dimitri we will find the two biggest snakes in Canadian political history.

Uncomfortable truth: much of the same goes for Stephen Harper. Shot fish in the barrel against Dion and Ignatieff. Didn’t really accomplish anything conservative.

Compare to Ford he had a much better record on the economy.

Eight deficits in nine years

Debt up from $338 billion to almost $485 billion

Interest payments are bigger than what Ontario spends on universities

Real GDP per capita has gone nowhere while population exploded.

Healthcare and education are still broken systems

And the ultimate flex of “pragmatism”? Getting chummy with Mark Carney, publicly praising him, and playing Team Canada and turning on federal Conservatives

Kenney’s point doesn't work federally

Winning is easy when the other side is incompetent

Delivering actual conservative government is the hard part,
Ford hasn’t done that.
