@0zymandias22@swspurs I've said exactly this. Doing it against Norway/Mexico you'll most likely get away with it as they lack the quality. But bringing on Burn & O'Reilly to hold on for 35mins instead of a Rashford or Madeuke to have an outlet and cause them problems just showed Tuchels intent
@ajtracey We're only a part of the big six when it suits their agendas. We weren't in the big 6 end of last season Villa and Newcastle replaced us. Until we spent some money in the transfer window, then all the sudden the same fans are crying and saying we're the big 6 cartel ๐
Teams like Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace etc have built sustainable models to be able to compete and get into Europe etc yet can't make that extra step because money is just such a powerful tool in the football world now.
In 33 seasons since the PL was formed as The Premier League' only 2 teams outside I'd say 'The top 5' have won the league title. Those were 21 years apart. Even since before PSR etc the PL has always been difficult to challenge for and win. And with top teams
Now constantly picking off 'best players' from teams below them. The PL is just becoming unsustainable in a competitive form. History has to be earnt, fair enough. But how can clubs in the modern era earn that status, if they just constantly have their best players cherry picked
@swspurs@talkSPORT It's just crazy that this is all based on the last 2 seasons. Prior to that Villa wasn't anywhere near Europe, whereas we were pretty much making the knockouts in the CL every season bar one or two out of the 18. And they never mention our ticket income, mayday revenue etc
@swspurs@talkSPORT Rashford literally went to Villa just to earn a wage ๐ Sancho went to Villa to earn a high wage. How can he sit and say this when Villa are in the mess they are in because they literally over paid on wages on average players?
@Talking_spurss Just fear this could be another Muani situation if it is a loan deal. I guess if there is a break clause in January that could work. Make him earn it.
@JUSTIN_AVFC_@Flav_Bateman How have we been poor season in and season out? We've been in Europe in 18 of the last 20 seasons. The last 2 seasons, yes we finished 17th but in that time we also won a European trophy and made it into the CL knockouts. So to say Villa have been more successful is delusional
@1GAVINNORTH His argument basically is, because Villa have just become rich in the last 5/6 years they should be able to spend more than Spurs because we finished 17th twice. We've been through the Villa/Newcastle pain, it's taken us 10/15 years to get to where we are today.
@Talking_spurss How long does he have left on his current one? Surely if he has at least 2 years left, he should be told he had to earn it after his injury etc. like I'm a big fan of his, but seems a big risk considering his injury etc
@viahalfspace He was De Zerbis no.1 target. Overpay or not, we've finally gone out and paid what was needed to bring our no.1 target in. That's the main takeaway from it. It's football, unfortunately you have to overpay sometimes to bring players in
@ManUnitedMedia Who cares? They were our No1 targets, and we've paid what was required to get them in. That's all fans worry about. Can guarantee if United got them, it would have been 'good business' just don't like the fact we've beaten you to signing them
@Emzyl_ Don't really care about the finances. Tonali & Fernandes were clearly the No1. & 2 choices De Zerbi wanted, and we've paid what was required to get them. That's the key thing and that's all that matters. We've finally paid up for our main targets and not gone down through list
@COYSJordan94 It's because we've walked away in the past with transfers we're in the mess we are in. Tonali was clearly our no.1 target for De Zerbi, and they've paid what was required to get him. Refreshing to see! Can't remember the last time we got our no.1 target in ๐
