“In short, “process up” not horizontally or down. Look for the wisdom of older faithful men whose lives, witness and adult sons and daughters demonstrate that wisdom is known of all her children.”
One of the most helpful things said to me when I was a young parent is if you want sound advice and guidance as a father in raising godly sons as true men, and faithful Christian daughters as women of God, look in your community for the counsel of Christian men who have actually done it and raised such children into adulthood - who have a track-record that can be examined. Men who have proven themselves by their fruitfulness in family life over many years. Pass on the rhetoric & bravado of young social media influencers and Twitter pastors who have barely reached manhood themselves and whose children are still bouncing on the knee.
In short, “process up” not horizontally or down. Look for the wisdom of older faithful men whose lives, witness and adult sons and daughters demonstrate that wisdom is known of all her children.
Don’t be tempted to despise the aged and dismiss their insights.
“Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days” - Job 12:12)
Fun fact: when Yeshua rose on the third day, that wasn’t just the third day after His death, it was also the third day of the Feast of Matzah (Unleavened Bread).
John MacArthur at a church in 1988 explaining one of the issues that prevented him from supporting a covenant theologian's view on the future of Israel:
"God promised Israel all kinds of things. If you're a covenant theologian, you say, 'But that's not literal. That's all figurative, and that's all talking about spiritual blessings to the church.'
The problem with that is, you've got all the literal curses, and now, you've arbitrarily made all the promises figurative. And you've taken all the curses and applied them to literal Israel, and all the blessings and applied them to figurative Israel, namely, the church. And I think that's really an impossible kind of hermeneutic, because you've arbitrarily determined that."
@MichelleDLesley Curious question here. Is Charlie’s pastor, Rob McCoy, a heretic in your eyes? He’s from the same Christian stream as Phil Wickham. Calvary Chapel isn’t usually considered heretical by Calvinists.
@dalepartridge@EveryKnee333 Cathedrals that are now largely spiritually empty museums. The church that lives in the light of the imminent return isn’t fighting culture wars and building towers, they are multiplying and discipling with urgency and conviction. Acts 2:42, 47. 1 Thess 4:3-18. Exhibit A: China.
@JoelWBerry And it’s a direct ministry of our church with our own church kids paying nothing (or next to nothing). This is doable for churches across the nation.

@SlowToWrite This is all true if examined through a socio-political lens.
If we put on a scriptural lens … there may be some additional insights and connecting points.
This isn’t an anomaly.
