@CVRHutchinson An enjoyable minute playing guess that virus. 'Fraid only got F, G and I. Is B bacteriophage? D for Hepatitis Delta to get in virus satellites 🛰️? Great project.
@LabMulvihill Agree there are potentially interesting applications. Just thinking I hope no enthusiastic student thinks of using it to express their GOI thinking it as innocuous as a histag. E.g. using it to express a viral protein that shuts down mammalian translation or NFkB signalling.
@LabMulvihill Super cool but after a few days of reflection not necessarily a harmless E.coli expression system. Outer membrane vesicles can deliver their 'payload' to the mammalian cell cytosol. Please consider this when expressing your GOI.
Not the 12 days of Xmas I wanted; at least symptoms are mild. Wonder if duration of shedding for those who have dodged infection until now has shifted due to viral evolution as was surprised to be +ve for so long, but perhaps I am the outlier instead!
@cggbamford 650,000 animals! - that is about the same number of cells in a well of a confluent 6 well plate. I can't help envisaging some kind of mad plaque assay about to take place.
@SaganLab@weber_lab Thought provoking and provides an attractive concept to perhaps explain how +ve strand viruses are able to shut off translation from foreign IRESes as well as their own; something that still puzzles me.
One fear to rule them all, one fear to find them, one fear to bring them all and in the darkness bind them (and the rest of the country if we don't do something about it)

@GroveLab @ScheelLab Great to know it is on again but sad not to be there this year. Please hike a hill for me on Saturday PM. Hope to make it next year 🤞
Sprung from too many debates over conference beers as to the structural state of the replicative intermediates of +ve strand RNA viruses. Enormous thanks to @MRHerodDR@Stonehouse_lab + other Leeds crew for collaborating. Always great to work with!
