Tired of competing with bots and big tech to buy a ticket to see your favorite band in DC? So are we.
Tuesday is a big opportunity for DC to make it suck less to buy a ticket to a live music show or theatre by passing the RESALE Act. But we need a price cap. 1/
I've worked on AV policy for over a decade, and @CMCharlesAllen's bill is one of the most robust proposals yet.
There are areas for improvement to make deployment viable - but the phased approach + regulatory authorities *should* reassure skeptics.
While DC does have a vocal anti-AV minority, I've also heard tons of enthusiasm and openness from residents.
DC Council scheduled a hearing about @CMCharlesAllen's AV legislation on July 13th and invited the public to testify.

NOW: members of the entertainment industry are speaking in support of the RESALE Act, which if passed, puts a cap on ticket resales happening on third party sites. @DCNewsNow
A bill from @charlesallen seeking to stop abusive practices by ticket resellers could get a vote next week. BUT lawmakers took out a provision that would cap ticket prices: Allen, music venue owners and artists like Bartees Strange are rallying at Lincoln Theatre to change that.
At 11 a.m., we’ll be at the Lincoln Theatre with musicians, venues, theaters, and advocates calling on the DC Council to stand with fans, not ticket scalpers.

More than 50 local venues and theaters support CM @charlesallen's RESALE Act, including restoring the 10% resale price cap to stop outrageous markups that hurt concertgoers, artists, and DC’s live entertainment scene.
