We Officially Present the EDiC Interim Board🔐
We are proud to introduce the Interim Board of the Engineering Development and Innovation Centre (EDiC). A distinguished team of leaders providing strategic guidance as we advance our mission to drive industrial transformation and engineering innovation in Uganda.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by the Minister responsible for the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat, Dr. Monica Musenero Masanza, who called on the Board to champion EDiC's growth into a financially self-sustaining institution; one capable of meaningfully supporting Uganda's broader innovation ecosystem. She urged Board members to remain open, receptive, and responsive to the ideas of Uganda's engineers and innovators, emphasising that good governance must create space for creativity and bold thinking to thrive.
Team UIPE,
We did it — together. Thank you for electing me your President for 2026–2028.
This was a contest of ideas, not enemies. To all contenders: respect. You made this race richer. Now let’s make UIPE richer. I need your energy because the 7 Pillars need all of us.
Dr. Cosmas Mwikirize @STIsecretariat delivered a keynote address during the #KyUSTEAMFestival. His challenge to us: Shift from theoretical research to building industrial value chains. It’s time to move innovations from the lab to the market! @Educ_SportsUg
In the absence of traffic officers during those critical early moments, my colleague Moses Wasswa Kalule, several community residents, and I stepped forward to guide motorists away from danger and direct them onto safer alternative routes.
Our immediate goal was simple but important: protect lives, prevent congestion, and keep traffic moving.

From MUST to the International Space Station!
We are bursting with pride for Eng. Zaina Kalyankolo from FAST, a key mind behind the AI-powered ClimCam now orbiting Earth. Her achievement is a true testament to the power of science and technology at @MbararaUST.
Zaina helped design and calibrate the camera’s optical subsystem. She worked on configuring and aligning the optical sensors responsible for capturing high-quality environmental imagery and spectral data.
Her rigorous testing ensured the system could capture clear images under varying atmospheric conditions. These optics are central to the ClimCam mission, enabling the instrument to gather precise visual data for climate analysis. She worked with colleagues from Egypt, Kenya and Uganda (Kyambogo University, Soroti University)
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 today lifted off from Cape Canaveral, carrying Uganda’s CLIMCAM climate camera to the International Space Station. Our own Ugandan Engineers in joint effort with Kenya, and Egypt delivered this project, reflecting the power of regional collaboration #STIWorksUg
When I saw the news about Uganda’s upcoming CLIMCAM launch, I felt a real sense of pride. Not the kind you just scroll past online, but the kind that makes you stop and think about how far we’ve come as a country.
For many of us, space science has always felt far away. So seeing Uganda connected to a mission going to the International Space Station is a big deal. It tells a simple story: we are starting to step into spaces we once only watched from a distance.
According to reports, CLIMCAM is the result of years of effort and collaboration between Uganda, Kenya, and Egypt, with assistance from international partners. That alone deserves recognition. It demonstrates what can be accomplished when African countries work together, share skills, and prioritize long-term goals over short-term gains.

The ClimCam (Climate Camera) mission, a historic tri-national project between Kenya, Uganda and Egypt was successfully launched Today, as part of the Cygnus NG-24 resupply mission, which is currently en route to the International Space Station (ISS).
It’s official. The Falcon 9 has launched, and aboard it, #CLIMCAM, Africa’s pioneering climate observation mission built by Ugandan, Kenyan & Egyptian engineers, is on its way to the International Space Station.
Uganda is now a space-faring nation.
