🇪🇸 Anthony Gordon reportedly rejected a significantly higher salary from Liverpool to complete his dream move to Barcelona.

​While Barcelona and Newcastle United moved swiftly this week to finalise the big-money transfer, the Spanish giants were far from the only suitors at the table. Liverpool were prepared to pull out all the stops to bring him to Anfield, tabling a superior financial package for both the club and the player.

​Ultimately, it was Gordon’s own determination to move to Spain that broke the deadlock. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo journalist Fernando Polo, the winger resisted intense late pressure to force a Premier League bidding war.

​"Monday and Tuesday were tough days for Gordon. The pressure from Liverpool on his agents was very strong, and they were offering more than Barça in terms of salary and transfer fee. Newcastle were completely fine with that, hoping to provoke a bidding war. But Gordon avoided it. His decision was made."
