Good morning, Crown Point. You may have heard outdoor warning sirens briefly activate twice today. A third party vendor that services the siren control system was doing testing and maintenance. There is no active threat.

🏥 Effective 6am this morning (Sun Jan 28) the Emergency Room at the old Franciscan Health Crown Point is now CLOSED.

The emergency department at the new Franciscan Health is now OPEN.

Firefighters across the region are responding to many calls about a smell of natural gas outside. We are working with NIPSCO to determine a source.

You should call 911 if you smell gas INSIDE your business or home, however the outside odor seems to be area-wide.
