On this date in 2008, Marraffini and Sontheimer floated an idea: moving CRISPR into eukaryotes could enable RNA-guided gene targeting. Little did they know that 12 years later, thanks to many brilliant colleagues in our community, CRISPR’d patients would walk among us.
Congratulations!!! We shall henceforth redefine the field history as CRISPR BC (Before Charpentier, relatively few people cared about CRISPR) and genome editing AD (After Doudna, everybody cares about genome editing). Predictable, defensible, momentous! @doudna_lab@NobelPrize
T-minus two hours until "Human Nature" premieres! Discover the extraordinary new technology called CRISPR, which we can now use to edit DNA—including human DNA.
But first, what is #CRISPR and how does it work?

TreeCo, a company co-founded by @NCStateCALS’s Rodolphe Barrangou (@CRISPRchef) and our own Jack Wang, will use tree genetics and genome editing to make forestry into an industry that can meet the needs of society. https://t.co/giXwb3pWni
We are happy to announce our first official Impact Factor -- 5.343 (courtesy @webofscience).
Thank you to everyone who has published, reviewed, commentated, read and cited our papers over the past 2.5 years! It takes a community. Congrats to @CRISPRchef and our superb EAB. 1/3
A company founded by @NCStateCALS researcher Rodolphe Barrangou (@CRISPRchef) and @NCStateCNR researcher Jack Wang is working to revolutionize the #forestry industry through the power of #GenomeEditing. See what it means for the future: https://t.co/gMLZeAFju7 #ThinkAndDo
We are excited to share STOPCovid, an inexpensive, one-step, & sensitive #COVID-19 detection protocol developed with @omarabudayyeh & @jgooten. This revamped assay was streamlined with the future goal of developing an in-home test for COVID-19. https://t.co/AhGrm6NYvz 1/X
In preparation for #ShutDownSTEM tomorrow, 10 June, @ScienceMagazine Science has made the following articles available without subscription or registration to help facilitate discussion.
Peter Harries of @ncsugradschool : "As an institution of higher education, we have a responsibility, not just to advance diversity and inclusion, but to fight injustice and racism." Today we take the day to educate ourselves and to identify actions we can take. #ShutDownSTEM
We've certainly been staying busy while working from home! We have a brand new paper out looking at #CRISPR-Cas systems in #Bifidobacteria@CRISPRchef @CRISPRmatt @ClaudioCRISPR
