As part of the Norwegian Research Council TONe project, a team from CRESIS visited the Windracers facilities in Foreham, England earlier this month to install a dual-band radar system designed for remote sensing of ice and snow onto the @Windracers Ultra UAV.
The CRESIS team, formed by Dr. Emily Arnold and Dr. Fernando Rodriguez, fit-tested and installed the electronics inside the payload bay, and mounted and installed the radar antennas. Personnel from Windracers and NORCE provided support to the CRESIS team during installation.
We are hosting a free STEM summer camp for rising seniors attending high school in Kansas again this year! Our AATEE camp will take place from July 13-27.
We're looking for rising seniors for a totally free two-week camp focusing on aerospace, physics, and computer science. But it's not all academic - campers also get a free trip to Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun! Apply today! https://t.co/fw5JOFvfDJ
@CReSIS@COLDEX_STC@GlacierThwaites "I truly enjoy travelling and seek new experiences. I look forward to the places themselves and interactions with people.
I first visited the polar region in March 2018. I flew on a DC-8 rotator aircraft from Baltimore to Pituffik Space Base (previously Thule Air Force Base)."
@CReSIS@COLDEX_STC "I participated in fieldwork during the 2022/2023 Austral summers, where I went to the South Pole and flew 20 total missions on the Basler. I also designed and built a sled antenna system for the GHOST (ITGC, @GlacierThwaites) project, which deployed to WAIS Divide."
@CReSIS "My work involves designing, building, and deploying radar systems to remotely sense the polar regions. My PhD project entails building a large, high-power radar on the Basler DC-3 aircraft for the Center for Oldest Ice Exploration (@COLDEX_STC)."
Meet Shravan Kaundinya! https://t.co/cQ967g63aE
"I am from Bangalore, Karnataka, India and currently reside in Lawrence, Kansas, USA. I am a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering and a Radar Systems Engineer at the Center for Remote Sensing and Integrated Systems (@CReSIS)."
Dr. Emily Arnold will discuss her adventures in engineering from Kansas to the South Pole as part of the @UnionStationKC Saturday STEM Seminar, tomorrow at 10 AM. Free admission! https://t.co/1FTm47k70U

CReSIS data product fans, please note that https://t.co/lWN9snvzMi will be unavailable on January 3, 2024! Not to fear, just doing some maintenance. We'll be back online the next day.
Congratulations to Dr. Sean Keshmiri on his recently funded grant Applied Research and Innovation Scholarship for Engineering Students in Aerospace, AI, and Cybersecurity (ARISE)! Read more: https://t.co/eDSjLYeTHV
For the last few weeks, the team have been busy mounting UTIG and @CReSIS instruments on a specially modified Basler DC-3, before flying to the south pole later this week.
We'll be adding to this 🧵as updates come in.
In the meantime, what is COLDEX? https://t.co/gayN7HClhO
