A timely meeting by @NRGInstitute to understand Uganda's Methane Emission abatement strategy in the oil and Gas sector.
Methane is the second most important greenhouse gas contributor after carbon dioxide, &requires particular attention for sustainability.

Approaches to methane emissions mitigation include;
-Establishing Leak Detection and Repair(LDAR) system
-provision of vapour recovery units for storage tanks
-Optimising the efficiency of combustion devices
-Gas utilisation measures or installing high-efficiency flares, etc
Earlier on today the 39th Multi-Stakeholder Group Meeting convened at Protea Hotel Kampala to advance transparency and accountability in Uganda’s extractive sector, with the Hon. Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in attendance. The meeting recognized outgoing members, welcomed new leadership, approved the FY2024/25 Annual Progress Report, and reviewed the ToR for the 5th UGEITI Report — a strong step forward for collaborative and responsible resource governance.
