Afghan civil society is deeply concerned about the rising violence between Pakistan and the Taliban regime, which is causing immense suffering, especially for women and children. Families are being displaced, and lives are at risk every day.
We urgently call on the UN Security Council to act under Chapter VII to:
• Stop the violence immediately
• Protect civilians
• Hold those responsible accountable
The people of Afghanistan cannot endure more pain. Peace, safety, and dignity must be restored—without delay.

🇺🇳 We warmly welcome Andrea as the newly appointed UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders.
OMCT has had the privilege of working alongside her over the years, witnessing her unwavering commitment to those most at risk, including Indigenous defenders, women human rights defenders, and journalists. From advancing work on torture and ill-treatment against Indigenous peoples to supporting defenders in Latin America, her engagement has been both principled and impactful. 🌎
At a time of increasing repression against human rights defenders worldwide, her experience and dedication will be essential. We look forward to continuing our collaboration in support of defenders everywhere. ✊🏾

The recent destruction of musical instruments in Afghanistan is more than the burning of objects, it is an attempt to silence culture, identity, and artistic expression.
Music is not a crime. Art is not a threat. Cultural rights are human rights.
The international community must stand with Afghan artists and protect their right to create, teach, and preserve their heritage. Silence only normalizes repression.
