Nathan Kelete (UNC '25, CSS 9) spent this summer in the @UNCpublichealth QUEST program, where he used his analytical skills to explore the disproportionate effect of environmental exposures on low-income areas and populations of color. 💻 #UNCResearchWeek#excellenceispossible
So many colleagues sent me thoughtful messages after reading the piece about my experience in science/medicine. But one trainee asked why I'm in a suit in all my pics/vids when I claim to wear a hoodie at work🤣. Sooo...new professional photo. This is my real Sciencing outfit.🐁
We are proud that @CSS_Science scholars are making valuable contributions to the state of NC (and beyond!) through hands-on STEM research here at @UNC. 🔬🧬⚗️🔭🪐🌱🦠🧠 #excellenceispossible

"Through this experience I am learning how to conduct ecological studies, which will be important in my future career as an epidemiologist. I am also learning statistical methods to analyze population data and working on writing my manuscript." - Jarvis Richardson, CSS 8 (3/3)
This summer, Jarvis Richardson (UNC '24, CSS 8) is working on environmental justice-based research through the @UNCpublichealth Equity and Environmental Justice Program (QUEST), a paid internship funded by a grant from @BWFUND. (1/3)
#excellenceispossible#scholarsummers
Jarvis's main project involves learning how various sociodemographic factors influence the association between exposure to heavy metals and risks of developing cancer. Currently, he is analyzing the associations between arsenic exposure and incidence of bladder cancer.
