Interestingly, I've never met a Russian who hates Finland because of Finnish fascists' crimes in Leningrad, whereas the average Finn won't stop going on about hating Russia. Must be the difference between people who grew up in a revanchist shithole, and those who didn't.

Russian nationalists actually supported dissolution of USSR. Keeping the empire meant conquered people participating in Society. Solution was to make them nominally independent, but in reality controlled by Russia. This only failed because of weakness during the 90s.
