KENYA CELEBRATES THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’S 250TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY AND REAFFIRMS ENDURING STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

At the invitation of the U.S. Secretary of State, The Honorable Marco Rubio, H.E. David Kerich, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the United States of America, joined fellow Chiefs of Mission at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., for the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of America’s Independence. This historic milestone marks two and a half centuries of the United States’ journey of nationhood, founded on the ideals of freedom, democracy, resilience, innovation and pursuit of shared prosperity.

The celebration provided an important platform to reflect on the United States’ remarkable contributions to global development, technological advancement, entrepreneurship, international cooperation, peace and security, as well as its longstanding partnerships with nations across the world.

On the sidelines of the event, H.E. Amb. Kerich held cordial discussions with Secretary Rubio, during which they reaffirmed the strong and enduring Kenya–United States Strategic Partnership founded on shared values, mutual respect and common aspirations. The engagement underscored the commitment of both countries to continue strengthening cooperation across priority areas, including trade and investment, security cooperation, digital transformation, innovation, education, health, climate resilience, and regional and global peace initiatives.

Kenya and the United States continue to enjoy a deep and historic relationship spanning 62 years of diplomatic relations, characterized by strong government to government collaboration, vibrant people to people connections and shared commitment to addressing global challenges. Over the decades, this partnership has evolved into a broad strategic relationship supporting economic growth, democratic institutions, security cooperation, entrepreneurship, scientific advancement and cultural exchange.

As Kenya congratulates the Government and the people of the United States on this extraordinary milestone, we celebrate the enduring bonds of friendship between our two nations and recognize the important role that this partnership continues to play in creating opportunities, advancing innovation and promoting a more secure and prosperous world.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya remains committed to further deepening this relationship by expanding opportunities for investment, enhancing commercial partnerships, strengthening diaspora engagement, promoting tourism and cultural diplomacy, and advancing areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the people of Kenya and the United States.
