The Hon'ble #VC Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi @shrivarakhedi of Central Sanskrit University @CSU(#CSU), Delhi, in #Kathmandu, Nepal, has gladly remarked that the research papers, Vada Katha discourse, and stage performance in the 19th IASS are prolific.
On the second day of the 19th IASS Keynote Speech dated 27th June 2025 at DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School, Kathmandu, Prof. McComas Taylor, Australian National University, Australia, and General Secretary of the 19th IASS (International Association of Sanskrit Studies), spoke about the role of ChatGPT and earnestly requested to organise Sanskrit conferences generally in Sanskrit medium. On the other hand, he remarked that Sanskrit scholars should also attempt conferences in English medium to present a global intellectual platform for the Sanskrit world. He surprisingly stated why western scholars do not take part in Sanskrit Poet Meets. He was very hopeful about futuristic plans for Sanskrit development.
A scholar from China, Prof. Mei Yang, Queli Academy, China, interpreted the close literary and linguistic legacy between India and China and presented the present activities related to Sanskrit, in which she mentioned the role of Prof. Kashinath Naypano, Director, Publication, CSU , for reviving its roots in China.
In this keynote speech, other noted scholars like Prof. Sthaneshwar Timalsina, USA, also shared their vital thoughts about Sanskrit.
After lunch, a very traditional and vital session, Shastra Charcha, was conducted under the title of Vada Katha, in which noted traditional and young scholars presented their thoughts related to several schools of Indian philosophy. It was truly a very collective open discussion in the presence of Hon'ble VC Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi Sir . Prof. Rajaram Shukla, Prof. Braj Bhushan Ojha, and other scholars participated in this discourse.
After that, a plethora of several powerful and innovative research papers were presented by noted and young scholars who had come from several parts of the world. The emerging trend of Sanskrit and computer was also one of the centres of attention for scholars in this conference today .
In the evening, the performance by Chidakash Kalalay, Kolkata, captivated the audience in the auditorium through their presentation about various celestial and philosophical forms of Lord Shiva. Undoubtedly, it was a new kind of stage performance aimed at enriching Indian culture and its fabulous legacy.
Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi gladly remarked about this wonderful performance that what he had thought in his classrooms for several years, this very performance presented its rainbow of gist in just two hours.
The recipient of the President’s award and internationally well-known Sanskrit poet, Prof. H.D. Sharma, remarked that he had never watched such a culturally and philosophically affluent performance in his life.
The solo dance related to Ma Bhagavati's several forms was also very captivating and commendable by Dr. Ragasudha, who had come from London to India for this performance.
