"If US growth has been so good for the last 50 years, why are voters so angry?"
"Maybe because thinkers like you have spent the last 50 years telling them that growth was bad and they should be angry?"
I have a weird feeling -- and please note, my weird feelings are not always reliable -- that this may be the beginning of things starting to get weird.
@CoreyHardwood@peonpaul@jon_stewartmill Lmao you have no idea what academic philosophy is. Like academic philosophy is not continental philosophy/sociology slop. Most academic philosophers I know are straightforward classical liberals. Very few are ardent socialist. Almost no one is full on conservative becuase
Apropos recent discourse on viewpoint diversity--
Top philosophy departments without a single conservative among their ranks:
Harvard
UCLA
Berkeley
Michigan
Yale
Columbia
Brown
Pitt
NYU

What do we think is going on here?
Something interesting to me about conservatism is that the concept of systemic bias is baffling when we discuss race or gender disparities on whichever social metric, but then point out that there are few conservatives at institutions of intellectualism and suddenly they get it.
If an Israeli soldier would do something like this to a woman from Gaza, there would be worldwide outrage. But it's just russian war criminals committing atrocities against Ukrainian people, so no one cares
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

@esjesjesj They hold a commercial launch monopoly. Depends how much value you put in mass to orbit. Communications, data centres, it’s a platform for infinity products not a product in and of itself.
