Any U.S. shojo manga fan can tell that Shojo Beat has been releasing fewer series recently. So I decided to crunch some numbers.
Assuming no planned releases get pushed back, by the end of the year SB will have released 42 volumes of manga, going by Right Stuf's website.
@SomeZeeShit__ I'm in Bay Ridge. Getting to Bushwick involves either going into Manhattan first or 3 trains. Going anywhere in Brooklyn on the J/M or L trains is not worth it lol.
@nazzobetweeting It's like watching TV sitcoms set in NYC as a native New Yorker: they'll refer to a real-life subway station but say that a train that *definitely* doesn't go there serves the stop 🤦♀️
@A_Sarr Exactly, I'm a native New Yorker who hasn't been impressed with any of the Mexican places I've tried in Manhattan, and that's because I first tried Mexican food in Sunset Park and it's the standard for me. Would love to try more places in Corona.
@lisavsworld There are men who legitimately believe that women who travel a lot are having every single one of their trips funded by a man they're sleeping with. They can't fathom that there are solo female travelers paying for their own trips who are simply traveling for leisure & culture.
@dieworkwear I'm a native New Yorker and I don't pay retail for any clothes/bags/shoes. I always wait for sales & stack coupons: plus, we have stores that discount designer goods like Century 21. Also, thrift stores! I once saw a pair of Gucci wedges for $40 at a thrift store.
@allithet@SlyPerformer Me too! I first watched Kodocha in 2005. It kicked off my love of shojo anime and manga and it's still one of my faves to this day. Sana is also still my favorite fictional female character ❤️
@LauraBaileyVO Sana is absolutely my favorite female fictional character ❤️ I still wish I could have heard you as Sana for the second half of the series!
@nymphfatale@finelylesberg I get a lot of guys who unmatch fairly quickly before we've ever messaged and I'm pretty sure that it's because they swiped right without reading my bio, then unmatched when they finally read it and saw that I don't want kids.
@offbeatorbit I put that I don't want kids on my dating app profile & my therapist suggested removing it bc that's not info everyone needs to know. I disagree: in a serious relationship, having kids is something you absolutely can't compromise on, so you should be on the same page ASAP.
@maomao09diaries I've watched/read 7, but there are a ton of series on this list that I dropped over the years. I didn't include Vampire Knight, Toradora, Spice & Wolf, Full Moon, Honey Lemon Soda, or Inuyasha, but I've definitely watched/read parts of them but didn't like them enough to continue
@maomao09diaries If you include reading manga, I've watched/read 21 of these series. Two of the most foundational romances (Hana Yori Dango and Kare Kano) sadly aren't on here. Also, a huge seinen romance: Maison Ikkoku.
@offbeatorbit A few weeks ago a guy at a dating event brought up the election & said that he's pushing for a Cuomo win because Mamdani "doesn't have enough experience." I pointed out that Mamdani is literally a state Assemblymember. The guy said he didn't know that & looked super pissed at me.
@virtualangel39 This is how I feel about Kodansha's digital manga being $10.99. I never buy their digital manga unless it's on sale for $5.99 or below.
