The more I listen and re-listen to Michael Parenti's lectures, the more I agonise over how much the world has lost by not listening to and reading him more. There is no staunch defender of the cause and opponent of Imperialism who equals him. There's so much to learn from him.
Waiting for the pogroms in Ireland to spread here now. It will happen, we warned people that it would and were dismissed.
It's going to get so much worse...
@id_communism "Careless opening may allow mosquitoes and blowflies to fly in and cause damage. We must conduct exchanges and joint ventures with other countries, but we must pitch mosquito nets to prevent those insects from infiltrating " KIM IL SUNG
🔻 What happened in #Tiananmen Square on 4 June 1989 wasn't actually an "unprovoked massacre" as western media portray it. A part of the so-called "pro-democracy" students' movement was actually funded and coordinated by the US and Britain.
🔻 The Chinese authorities had tolerated the protesters by allowing them to occupy Tiananmen Square for six weeks. Before the crackdown, the leadership of the CPC had tried in vain to negotiate with them.
🔻 The 1989 events in #China were closely linked to the counterrevolutionary changes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Western imperialists expected the Chinese government to be toppled by pro-Western political forces.
🔻 The economic reforms ("market socialism") that were implemented by Deng Xiaoping and his supporters cultivated the ground for the growth of a pro-capitalist, counterrevolutionary movement within China.
Never Forget: When the Panama Papers came out it revealed all the richest people in the world are part of an enormous conspiracy to dodge taxes and hoard stolen wealth in offshore accounts and nothing happened except a reporter working on the story was assassinated.
@commontruth_ Don't get me wrong, I'm as content to crack on as the next person, and have done in all jobs that I've worked, but that doesn't - and shouldn't - come at the cost of safety measures for workers like you and I
@commontruth_ I've worked in places with and without air con. With air con down, in temperatures like what we're having and will have, the day's a write off. When you're outside in those temperatures, same deal.
It's not about shying away from hard graft, it's about protecting all workers.
