Between July 29 and August 1, a cyber attack unfortunately hit Valve’s logistics partner, CEVA Logistics, affecting Steam Hardware customers in Europe (for Steam Controller and Steam Machine)

Phone number
Email address Steam account uses
Type and price of the hardware ordered

Valve says you don’t need to change your password and that account/payment information was not affected, but to watch out for fake messages, emails, or calls asking you to verify your order. Do not click any suspicious links sent to you or accept any requests to “verify your information”. If you do get anything, go directly to Steam Support. You can check right now if you were sent an official Valve email that gives all this info.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-14266, has been fixed in 7-Zip version 26.02.

7-Zip does not update automatically, so manually download and install the latest version if you are using an older release.
