The Old Ford Picture Palace - Originally built in 1910 , it was located at the junctions of Corner Street, St Stephens Road and Roman Road in Old Ford - it was renamed The Ritz in 1937, before succumbing to a fire which destroyed it in 1961... #eastend#history#Cinema
Two weeks to go before work on the #PictureHouseProject begins, we’re busy sorting through an Aladdin’s cave of ‘stuff’ we’ve accumulated over the years.
From projection equipment to old brochures & posters, we’re keeping what’s important & finding new homes for everything else.
This is what we found when we cracked those boarded up doors open back in 1997! To think that this stunning piece of architecture had been derelict for 10 years is insane. Lucky for us though 😍

The Forum Cinema on Lime Street opened in 1931. It closed on 29th January 1998, and sadly still lies empty, strewn with graffiti, and continues to deteriorate.
Lime Street needs this building to utilised.
