Speaking at the Youth Peace Forum in Baringo County, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Council Ms Gloria Wawira reinforced the importance of the upcoming NYC elections, urging young people to actively participate in the process.

Building on the civic education sessions, she emphasized that youth representation is strengthened when young people register, vote, vie for leadership positions, and take ownership of the structures designed to amplify their voices. With the youth comprising of the largest population in the country, she urged young people to move away from just being spectators, and become the decision makers.

The forum also featured an engagement by the PS for the State Department for Youth Affairsand Creative Economy, Hon. Fikirini Jacobs, who interacted directly with over 300 young people alongside government officials, community leaders, elders, and other stakeholders. He spoke on the importance of peace, youth empowerment, climate action, and creating opportunities for meaningful youth participation in national development.

The engagement reaffirmed that when young people are informed, empowered, and given a seat at the table, they become powerful agents of peace, progress, and positive change to our nation.

This Tuesday, June 16th, 2026, @Midrifthurinet, in partnership with @Childlight_ and the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU), will be launching a field study titled “Reporting, Investigation and Adjudication of Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in Kenya.”

This study, conducted across 7 counties in Kenya, evaluates the Functionality of Child Protection Services through Survivor Journeys and Case Management Processes.

Further, it documents how Kenya's child protection system responds to Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA), from the moment a case is reported, through investigation and medical care, to adjudication in the courts, and maps the journey of the child survivor at the centre of that system.

Stakeholders from the State Department of Children Services, the Judiciary (through court magistrates), the Department of Health, and the National Police Service were engaged in Nakuru, Kisumu, Nairobi, Garissa, Busia, Kisii, and Mombasa counties.

Through KECOSCE's Early Warning and Early Response (EWER), we have increasingly observed the role of online spaces in shaping community tensions, spreading harmful narratives, and exposing individuals, especially women and girls, to Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV).

@KECOSCE recently participated in a 3-day Peer Learning & Support Training on Online Harms, Gender and Technology by @swahilipothub , supported by @PERIL American University and @ChChCallFDN

The training strengthened organization's capacity to identify online misogyny, recognize manipulation tactics used in digital spaces, support survivors of TFGBV, and facilitate productive dialogue that safeguards survivors/victims.

This knowledge will help KECOSCE monitor, analyze, and respond to emerging online risks through our Early Warning and Early Response mechanisms, and promote safer, more inclusive, and resilient communities.
