#Life in the subterrain. A tiny sampling has been found, 720m below the #mountain, growing without sunlight in a mud bank. The seed must have been washed in during an #Alpine storm and grows beside a starless river. #lifepreserves#uninhabitable#amazing
Fischgesicht Höhle has been rigged with brand new @SpanSetLtd rope from @ukcaving today, leaving the cave ready at the #finalfrontier for an #Alpinestart tomorrow morning. This cave was found by cavers stumbling along the #Löserplateau last year and explored to over 150m deep.
The #glamorous side of expedition #caving. Unpacking our base camp from last year uncovers #treasures, measureless to man. Totes Gebirge, #Austria. Thanks @philipsargent for sharing the first find of the expedition.
Much hard work has gone into #digitising#cave surveys drawn up from last year's new finds.
Thanks to everyone involved in printing this great addition to base camp, useful for planning trips, and explaining the locale to new or returning #expedition cavers. https://t.co/qCrfRphHWg
The first van is packed, full of rope, hangers and curries and ready to drive 200km across Europe to the gorgeous Austrian Alps. Cheers @currywuss for the photograph

We had an awesome weekend at Bull Pot Farm, practicing advanced SRT and expedition-style rigging, going down under in Juniper Gulf, Pippikin, Petersons, Quaking, King Pot and Lancaster Hole. A big thanks to RRCPC for hosting us. Next year: @goesserbier at the training events!
Check out the successes of our Alpine expedition training workshop this weekend. Thanks to the Yorkshire Speleological Society for their great SRT facilities. https://t.co/faEyqlNL4h
A privilege to have been part of another fantastic research expedition with @obgplants funded by @BritOmani. Significant progress towards a complete population census of the endangered Arabian dragon tree. Highlights include wolves, eagle rays, sunbird & new friends in Dhofar.
Third-year chemical engineer undergraduate Aidan presents CUCC'S (and Bristol's) exploits over the past four decades at the @RGS_IBG Golden Age of Caving event. There are a few more talks tonight, plus the GPF #Mulu draw - an evening well worth it if you're free! 🦇
