This month, the cardiac surgery team @ColumbiaMed/@nyphospital completed their 300th robotic heart surgery, placing the program among the largest and fastest-growing in the U.S. 👏
As Dr. Emile Bacha explains, robotics transforms both visibility and recovery:
“When you insert the camera, you can see the heart from angles you simply can’t with open surgery… And by avoiding a sternotomy, you avoid what patients struggle with most after surgery—the bone incision.”
Led by @ArnarGeirssonMD, the program has achieved a 99% mitral valve repair rate, with 99% of cases completed without conversion to open surgery, a testament to an extraordinary multidisciplinary team.
