Carolyn Bertozzi – awarded the 2022 #NobelPrize in Chemistry – has taken click chemistry to a new dimension and started utilising it in living organisms. Her bioorthogonal reactions take place without disrupting the normal chemistry of the cell.
@miyukijane @mistrgroves @ringostarrmusic I think being in a band or music group is a top experience. It was for me. What a lucky and beautiful moment.
I also think Twitter seems best as a public protocol. But while Elon Musk's wealth makes it possible, the trade-off is a severe loss of trust given his public hostility.
A public good needs leaders inspiring public trust.
He could find better people to control it. Will he try?
In principle, I don’t believe anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness.
@goldman Feels like it's going to be a hard grown-up's hangover. But parts of the notorious machine helped a lot of people and those are parts you worked hard to make better and support. (Thanks.)
This is shocking. The fears and prejudices about trans people have been a distressingly global phenomenon but have an increasingly sinister bent in US politics. This latest move requires alarm bells ringing.
@rachel_elson@tressiemcphd Yeahhhhhh no. In song form:
Your helpful suggestion
should have stayed in the trunk.
Should have stayed a thought
but also not thunk.
You're leaking a stink
that should never have stunk.
Some boats in the harbor
should launch pre-sunk.
Thinking the title of the film "2 Fast 2 Furious" seems like a parody of itself while also being the best representation of the thing it’s parodying.
Is that even ontologically possible? Has to be a philosophical premise already.
(I'm avoiding stress about political conflict.)
