Sign on to let the Street Roots' board of directors know that the community supports the organization: for its newspaper, its advocacy efforts, and most of all, its vendors.
Please sign on to urge Street Roots’ board of directors to promptly recognize the workers union.
Staff at Street Roots announced their intent to unionize last week. This week, the union says the nonprofit's board has declined to voluntarily recognize them due to disagreements over the unit's scope, setting members up for an election with the NLRB.

Street Roots' board did not meet our 5 pm deadline for voluntary recognition, but we are ready to work with them any time they are ready. @CWA7901 sent our petition documents to the NLRB today, but we will rescind it if the board recognizes our union voluntarily.
From one unionized workplace to another, thanks @portlandmercury!
“The announcement makes Street Roots the third Portland news organization to form a union in 2024 alone, joining the Mercury and OPB, whose unions were each voluntarily recognized...”

Congrats to @StreetRoots workers for unionizing! I hope leadership extends voluntary recognition promptly. Street Roots is a crucial news source for the entire Portland, Oregon region. Its journalists were among the first to cover the Grants Pass case with rigor and compassion.
We are Street Roots Workers Guild! Street Roots staff is proud to announce we have unanimously decided to form our union through Communications Workers of America Local 7901. This morning, we sent a letter to our board, requesting they voluntarily recognize the union. 1/
