Very excited to share our first @IAFultonSchools DNA Club published article in the peer reviewed @JEInvestigators on pillbug feminization by Wolbachia. We hope you enjoy it: https://t.co/rscbVQzf6G
@CMooreAnderson And then one step further is getting students to digest the feedback and potentially use it: teaching how to reflect on feedback is critical…
@Strickomaster Ensuring quality engagement for all is key. Also in my experience some faculty fail to appreciate the brilliance and potential of all learners (so that certain courses are sought while others are considered “less than”.)
@Strickomaster It starts with authentic inquiry. Give students something of value to engage with and they will take off. I am not a fan of the model where peers are supposed to pull/carry/push students ahead.
@Strickomaster "Mixed ability"... In my experience students felt worse & totally aware of how different they were from peers in the room (which drove the divide). Why not have spaces where everyone can thrive and lead (rather than follow with supports)?
@wc_ratcliff 10 years ago I brought elementary age visitors to my college level intro cell bio course (@southwestern). My college students were blown away by the nuance & sophistication of pure 10 year old curiosity. It changed the climate of my class forever forward.
The full-size file for "Bacteriophage T4 Infection" is freely available @buildmodels at: https://t.co/ZMMOmpjDTF. I drew it at a scale of 1 pixel/nm, so the file is huge and hopefully good for poster-size prints. Here's a detail of the bursting cell.
Thrilled to have this out! And David's beautiful drawing is on the cover! https://t.co/Jw95WuZhsq (pdf here: https://t.co/0vhRXIOSsm ) cc: @janetiwasa@dsgoodsell@MargotRiggi@nothingtolius Hyun Kate Lee and Simon Curie
Found some time today to work on the new illustration--here's a gallery of T4 in many stages of the life cycle, drawn at 1 pixel per nanometer. Now I need to drop them into the cells.
@heymrsbond "I come from"... simple. Write for 1-2 minutes. It means different things to different people. Share in table groups. Powerful, validating. Honors identity. You control what you share. I learned so much about my colleagues. Works with students too.
