The fog and humid climate of Alishan nurtures its famous high mountain tea. However, rising temperatures and increasing drought are now threatening its survival.
If temperatures continue to rise, the beneficial fog for tea growth will become even thinner. 🧵1

We analysis 20 major capitals in East and South Asia, looking into the temp. increases they have experienced over the past 100 yrs. Surprisingly, Taipei's temp. has risen by 1.8 ℃, surpassing the global average and ranking it as the 2nd hottest city, just behind Beijing. 2/n

We used building and urban renewal data to show how old the Taipei city's buildings are and which areas have undergone urban renewal. We also looked at housing prices to see how expensive they become after urban renewal.
