The Miracle at Gapyeong is one of Utah’s greatest military stories, and too few people know it.
Seventy-five years ago this week, 240 Utah National Guardsmen stood against an enemy force of more than 4,000 and held the line without losing a single soldier.
Their actions helped preserve the Republic of Korea at one of its most vulnerable moments and built a friendship between our nations that remains strong more than seven decades later.
This week, I had the honor of visiting Korea to commemorate their sacrifice and remember the legacy they left behind.
Yesterday, I set out to find a special headstone. Robert Slaughter’s marker honors his WWI service, but it tells only part of his story,he was also Utah’s first @UTHighwayPatrol patrolman. Beginning patrol in 1926, he helped pave the way for today’s Troops who continue serve Utah

Each week, Highway Patrol Officers come from all over the state during the legislative session to keep our Capitol safe. I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend a few minutes with them today. We’re so grateful to have them here. #utpol#utleg
In his State of the State, @GovCox shared a vision for Utah’s future. His focus on "moral infrastructure" and balancing accountability with compassion is central to the mission at Utah DPS.
Grateful for @GovCox and the State Legislature for the support that allows us to advance.
Under Colonel Holley’s command, the @UTHighwayPatrol is navigating a new era of leadership. We stand on the shoulders of the giants who built this organization, committed to honoring our 100 year legacy of service to the 3.5 million citizens of Utah.

There is no “magic number” of shelter beds or housing units that will solve homelessness. There is no one-size-fits all solution to the complex challenges seen on our streets.
So what is Utah’s roadmap for the future?
🗺️
#1.) Zero tolerance for drug use, camping, crime, & disorder on our streets.
#2.) Quality data collection that identifies the difference between a mother fleeing domestic violence & a hardcore drug user in their early 20’s instead of lumping everyone in the same umbrella of “homelessness”.
#3.) Connection to on demand services & treatment at every step of the continuum of care. That includes all the above programs & capacity.
#4.) Quality flow through the system. Accountability for every cent of taxpayer dollars.
#5.) Allow providers to innovate & find solutions that really work. For too long “Housing First” has meant “Housing Only” and prohibited life saving treatment programs from being implemented.
#6.) Have the courage to care. For too long under the guise of “self-determination” we’ve allowed our loved ones to deteriorate & die on the streets slowly from a horrific cocktail of drugs, mental illness, & vulnerability to predators. We must end this.

EMERGENCY ALERT FROM THE #CobraKaiAward! Snow College of the NJCAA just put 101 points up on Community Christian College (CA).
(early misidentified as CCC-LA, there's a half-dozen of these jokers)
Thanks to @CWN_III & @UTHighwayPatrol for a Halloween DUI Blitz ride along. Smiling photos—but spending a few hours with a state trooper was a sobering reminder of the dangers out on the roads. I’m grateful for officers willing to sacrifice to keep our communities safe. #utleg
@parttimepolpaul@UTHighwayPatrol Troops and me deeply appreciate not only the late night Halloween support but your long hours behind closed doors w/ constituents, bill research, budgeting, committee & session. Grateful for you and the #utleg making Utah safer for all of us.

The Neff family will always love and remember the care @ColonelRapich has shown our family.
It’s hard to keep emotions in check when a giant of a leader like him departs an organization. Make no doubts, Col. Holley is a man who has the whole hive of Troopers behind him! #joinuhp
Yesterday, we thanked Col. Michael Rapich for 33 years of dedicated service to the Utah Highway Patrol. To him and his family, thank you for the sacrifices behind that service.
We also welcomed Col. Greg Holley, an exceptional leader in his own right. You have our full support as you guide this outstanding team.
