New 'STADIA' trial process evaluation of the Development & Wellbeing Assessment (DAWBA), interviewing 109 participants across 8 Trusts.

Clinically-referred children and young people with high levels of mental health needs - 67% scored v. high for ≥1 emotional disorder, esp. depression or anxiety disorder.
But only 11% received a clinical diagnosis of an emotional disorder from CAMHS.

In CAMHS, little evidence of overdiagnosis of emotional disorders, rather the opposite - many children and young people with diagnosable mental health disorders not receiving a clinical diagnosis or timely help.

Children spent 35,845 days away from home as a result of beds being unavailable in their local area. With family and friends having to travel so far, visiting becomes impossible, which only leaves unwell children feeling more isolated, lonely and can be harmful to their recovery
A new report has outlined an urgent need to address the declining number of clinical researchers in the UK. Professors @LucyChappell2 and @WaljitD alongside other key partners contributed to the report and a set of key recommendations to tackle the issue at a national level.
