everyone's terrified of AI taking their job/girlfriend
nobody's worried about the alternative:
that it's slowly eroding communication, empathy, social skills, critical thinking, pattern recognition, problem solving
sure, we'll automate the economy
but we may as well end up nuking IQ globally lol
@BernieSanders This is mostly terrible (starting with the subjective definition of artificial suberintelligence), but there are some decent pieces too! A federal agency on AI is a good idea!
Generally it's disappointing that the only govt official trying to lead on AI is an 84-year old man.
The days of blurry hands and legless pedestrians in simulation are over. It's going to be crazy to see what this level of precision will do for robotic task training.
I'm so excited that our @theworldlabs team has achieved a major milestone today! Introducing Atlas - a first of its kind multimodal world model trained from scratch! 🚀
Atlas is capable of generating frames with pixel-perfect camera control, reconstructing large scenes from as few as one single input image, simulating space-time by reframing videos, natively outputting 3D spaces from one or more input images, composing multiple posed images into a consistent 3d world, and more! This is the best camera conditioned world model ever, opening doors to many possible use cases from VFX to robotics. I'm so so so proud of our team!♥️
Last time I tweeted: the metaverse was the future, cartoon apes were worth six figures, and a joke currency had a $90B market cap.
Giving this Twitter (X?) thing another shot after 5 years away.
@profgalloway@karaswisher one piece that was missing from your discussion on 5G is that the marketing may be diluting the brand. Most phones now show when you are connected to “5GE”, which is identical to 4G LTE and could be causing your listener’s confusion.
Donald Trump deserves to lose this election, and to lose it by more than he will. He has governed cruelly, and he has governed poorly.
Our disagreements are real, but there should be basic moral standards and professional expectations for our leaders, and he is beneath them.
@nmccurley1 Haha fair, the regular season NFL overtime rules are extremely stupid. I wouldn’t trade the playoff NHL overtime rules for anything, but it’s not really practical to have them play indefinitely during the regular season
That Kamala Harris was the “safe pick” shows how much American politics has changed.
A few years back, a Black, Indian American woman with one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate wouldn’t have been priced in by pundits as the safe choice. https://t.co/Rze54LnUUw
