At the 35th Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition, hosted by the @CHR_HumanRights , at the Institut Universitaire d'Abidjan in Cote d'Ivoire, I had the honour of representing Makerere University School of Law against more than 86 universities from across Africa in the largest human rights moot on the continent. We finished as 1st Runners Up on the week-long tournament.

We were also named Best Team in the Preliminary Rounds. We won the award for Best Memorial. And personally, ranked as the 5th Best Oralist in the competition.

I am grateful beyond measure to Conrad, the steadiest counsel I could have stood beside; to our coaches @KalindaJamada, @ruth_muhawe , @sabiti_edwin for the constant feedback during our preparations; to our Patron @RuhwezaDaniel ; to John Baptist Katende and the entire @MakMootSociety Moot Society for the honour of carrying its name.

A special mention goes to Calvin David Mukiibi. He has been part of my mooting journey from my very first competition to this one. He gave up his time again and again, kept believing even when things didn't come our way in many of the competitions. A lot of what I am proud of in this journey was built in those moments, the ones that never made it here. Thank you for being consistently there through it all. This win is yours as much as anybody else.

The best is still ahead. I am certain of it.

Preliminary rounds of the Inaugural Digital Health Moot Court Competition are happening today with finals to be held tomorrow.

The hypothetical case under consideration is: In the High Court of Ngalamba, Gracious Asiimwe Versus 1. Winner Insurance Company 2. The Attorney General of Ngalamba

The case is about a woman named Gracious Asiimwe who lives in Ngalamba, a country that is trying to modernize its health system by using computers and digital records. The government and a big insurance company (Winner Insurance) started a program to put everyone's health information into a digital health system, hoping it would make healthcare better and more efficient.

Asiimwe is suing the insurance company and the government arguing that they did not protect her privacy, did not ask for her permission to use her health information, and made it harder for her to get the care she needed.

The plaintiff side is highlighting a number of issues arising from introduction of the new system:
- Private and sensitive medical information was not kept safe.
- People's health data was sent to other countries and used by private companies without asking for permission.
- The new digital system made it harder for some people to get care. That, patients had to repeat expensive medical tests because different hospitals' computer systems couldn't talk to each other.
-The government took money away from hospitals and schools to pay for the new digital system, making it harder for people to get basic services.
