How should LLMs react if they can’t or don’t want to give you a proper answer? We find that diverting the conversation works surprisingly well for avoiding interaction breakdowns.

What do people think about LLM-powered social robots mediating health information between family members? @c_joelwester explored four designs of LLM-powered robots in such contexts in a new #CSCW24 paper: https://t.co/uNM7mPnrBE
✨That’s a wrap for our first workshop on Theory of Mind in Human AI Interaction at #chi2024
💕Despite all the technical difficulties everyone was so patient, supportive, and engaged throughout the paper talks, group activities, and invited panel.
Just presented our work on moral transparency https://t.co/sKyRBUbUCj All credit goes to @C_JoelWester & @nielsvberkel; thanks for this wonderful collab! We got Qs like should CUIs be confrontational? Could users & designers work together for shared moral transparency? #CUI2023

Feel free to send me a message. I’ll be in Hamburg for the full week.
Hope to see you at the conference!
Participating in the workshop “Moral Agents for Sustainable Transitions: Ethics, Politics, Design”, where I’ll share our position paper (“On Moral Manifestations in Large Language Models”) on why LLMs (such as ChatGPT) should be considered as social agents manifesting morality.
Together with @EikeSchneiders and @nielsvberkel, we hope our paper will generate some interesting discussions on how people make sense of social robots as they progressively grows more complex.
On my way to Stockholm where I’ll have the full conference experience at HRI’23 and present a short position paper at the Moral Agency workshop. Paper: https://t.co/ztRZ7yAXmf
More specifically, we call attention to what role subjective sense-making might have in more critical settings (such as mental health or social companionship).
Good news! Really looking forward to do state of the art research as a PhD Fellow in the field of HCI and HCAI, with @nielsvberkel as supervisor, in the Human-Centered Computing research group at @aalborg_uni!
