🌱 Stefan, agronomist & researcher on the Upper YP, is one of 30 advisors in SA taking part in the Carbon Farming Outreach Program. In August, he co-facilitated a workshop helping 30 landholders understand farm emissions & carbon farming. #CFOP#SustainableAg
ROADWORTHY HEAVY VEHICLE WORKSHOPS: GPSA, @PProducersSA and @NHVR are hosting 'Roadworthy Heavy Vehicle...Made Easy!' workshops throughout August in Jamestown, Kadina, Naracoorte, Murray Bridge and Loxton.
Attendees will receive theory knowledge and practical training to help develop a tailored approach to heavy vehicle maintenance, inspections and compliance. Post event, producers will also be eligible for one free, heavy vehicle roadworthy inspection with the workshop's participating mechanic.

A group of fed up South Australian farmers made a stand at Parliament House today, imploring the state government for drought assistance and acknowledgment of their importance to the state's economy.

🤞🏼this can be avoided. Massive asset to the agricultural, viticultural & horticulture industries. Have been hoping there would be an expansion of the network to the YP & EP. Crucial that this network is maintained.@GRDCSouth@GrainProducerSA@SA_PIRSA@ClareScriven@BOM_au
@Telstra You’re missing the point, your coverage has been getting worse, not better, even with 3G turned off. Low/no signals where towers are in line of sight. Plenty of people experiencing issues, you need to get out the office and talk to people in the rural community’s.
@Telstra your coverage is garbage, you can’t claim 1bar 4G as coverage when it doesn’t bloody work 🤬 Calls are constantly dropping out or not even dialling, meanwhile iPad has 4bar 4G on Optus. Can see both towers at Moonta, line of sight. Agery SA 5558.
@Telstra This has been the case consistently for 18+ months, doesn’t sound like an individual experience to me. Get out the office and talk to others in the area and you’ll soon find out it’s a common issue, all over the country in rural areas.
A compulsory national training system for boomspray operators is being touted as a solution to end the grain industry's spray drift problem.

Previously used Aliance when it was available. Could replace it with Guerrilla but it doesn’t contain enough amitrole.
Urugan where possible and looking forward to using Alion in the future.
@Nel_farms Modified spray shop batch unit. Pump chem mix in with batch unit pump. Fill the sprayer with clean water direct from the truck tank with the sprayers onboard 3” pump.
Amid a barrage of criticism over inaccurate forecasts, the Bureau of Meteorology reports it has added more than $100 million in economic value to the agriculture sector in the past financial year. See the details >>> https://t.co/ytF4dUi2ND
Hey @BOM_au can you forecast wind more accurately? This is getting pretty frustrating, especially when trying to plan/complete summer spraying. PS Is it too much to ask for a Radar on the lower EP too?
@theGRDC Hey @theGRDC these are not up to date, the ‘Grains Harvesting Operations Table’ has reverted back to FDI 35 this season. FBI 40 is not being used.
@venningj@bruzo2@agbyte_leet@GrainProducerSA We have some excellent farm units on the YP, best in the state in my opinion. We had a fire start just under the limit last harvest, dozens of farm units and CFS couldn’t pull the fire up in standing wheat crop, only stopped when it reached harvested lentil stubble.
Good to see the CFS are doing there best to protect the community. Unlike @GrainProducerSA recklessly pushing limit; can’t change fire behaviour, that’s a fact, so listen to the facts being presented by i.e. a formula that’s based on a 10m reading.
Latest on the SA cease harvest threshold. The CFS says it will continue to work with industry and government to find a resolution to the cease harvest threshold that supports farming communities and protects life, property and environment. @stockjournal

@agbyte_leet@GrainProducerSA Use the CSIRO formula to calculate the example below (old chart). If using a 10m wind speed, the chart is about right at just over FDI 35 (38), however if you calculate it as 2m, it’s FDI 57. Clearly the old chart was developed using the corrected 2m CSIRO formula.
@agbyte_leet@GrainProducerSA Who said the conversion was not used in the grains industry? GPSA? The FDI calculation is what CSIRO developed, including the conversion. So you know better than the CSIRO? And then why does the chart not reflect a 2m uncorrected reading (it reflects a corrected 2m and/or 10m).
