A fresno police officer slammed a black man's head into a windshield while he was returning home with formula for his newborn baby.

Backstory…

I am demanding justice and accountability regarding the violent and unnecessary force used against Dorian Johnson by a police officer.

Dorian Johnson had just returned home after going to purchase formula for his newborn baby. After parking his car outside his home, an officer approached him without emergency lights activated or any clear explanation for the stop. Confused, Dorian calmly questioned why he was being approached and attempted to provide his license and insurance.

Instead of explaining the situation, the officer aggressively ordered him out of the vehicle. While Dorian was still trying to understand what was happening and cooperate, the officer forcefully grabbed him by his shirt and violently slammed his head into the windshield with such force that the windshield shattered from the impact of his face.

No one deserves to be treated this way, especially without clear cause or justification. This level of force was excessive, dangerous, and unacceptable.

We are formally requesting the immediate release of all body camera footage, dash camera footage, audio recordings, and any surveillance video related to this incident. We are also demanding a full and transparent investigation into the officer's actions and accountability for the harm caused to Dorian Johnson.

Police officers are sworn to protect and serve — not brutalize citizens who are attempting to cooperate. My family will not stay silent about this injustice.

On Sunday, we announced a new birth in the Humba family.⁠

Since then, our team has been closely monitoring the newborn and can now confirm that the mother is Kanyalire, a female gorilla born on May 24, 2002. She is the daughter of silverback Kabirizi and Macibiri.⁠
⁠
Kanyalire was originally a member of the Kabirizi family but joined the Humba family after an interaction between the two groups on May 11, 2010. Since becoming part of her new group, she has had five offspring with silverback Humba — all of whom are still thriving.⁠

One of her young has since moved to the Rugendo family, while the other four remain by her side, including her newest baby, a healthy little male.⁠
⁠
It's a heartening story and shows how Kanyalire continues to play a special role in the rich and growing legacy of the Humba troop.⁠
