We're incredibly saddened by the passing of David Bordwell—a great, longtime friend of Criterion and a tireless champion of cinema, who spent decades imparting his wisdom and passion onto film lovers around the world. For more than twenty years, he enriched the films in our collection with brilliant commentaries, visual and written essays, and interviews, as well as our @criterionchannl original program Observations on Film Art. He will be deeply missed. ❤️
RIP to David Bordwell, a giant in film studies. His work (particularly on his blog) was arguably the single greatest influence on Every Frame a Painting. The man saw no “high art” or “low art,” just art.
The Director of the UN's New York office just resigned after thirty years at the organisation over the UN's handling of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.
The entirety of his resignation letter is a necessary read but this first page blew me away.
Season 2 of #TheLegendofVoxMachina is incredible - beautiful, hilarious, full of heart. The highlight of the past four Fridays. Just finished it and I miss it already 🥲 Can’t wait for season 3! ⚔️ ✨
