@NESCAC Can we get IT on to come in on a Saturday and fix the streams? I’ve been staring at a buffering icon for the better half of two hours. Thanks

“ALS has forced me to realize that who I am is so much bigger than what my body can do.”

Former @Titans RB @ChrisJohnson28 kept his ALS battle private for a long time. In a letter to his kids, he writes that he is still the same person he has always been despite the disease — he’ll always be their dad. ❤️ https://t.co/alHzJF5IgO

Look I can't disagree with @AlbertBreer's main points here. Everything written in this piece about Amy Adams Strunk is absolutely valid. However, what I will say is, they have (supposedly) taken the steps to correct this with the new braintrust of Brinker and Borgonzi.

I know many of you dislike Brinker. I'm still withholding judgment there. He may prove to be the next head to roll. If so, then I'm totally wrong and you can disregard all of this.

But what I will say is, even keeping Callahan for these first six games was an indicator to me that they are looking to stabilize. They could've made him a one-and-done hire in January, but they took the patient approach. Obviously, the patience ran out, and justifiably so. The team was terrible and rather than improving, they were regressing. So of course Callahan had to go.

But IMO firing Callahan is not indicative of larger systemic problems, at least not anymore. I think it was one of the final steps towards actually stabilizing things (and the last step will hopefully be hiring a high-floor coach for 2026 and beyond. Obviously it is important to get that hire right or else the stability will not arrive).

Brinker and Borgonzi have at least acknowledged the instability and how debilitating that can be for a franchise to find success. They have preached patience because they know that patience is required for stability. If they're preaching that in press conferences to the media, I imagine they're preaching it behind the scenes to AAS, as well.

So while I agree with Albert that the Titans have been dysfunctional, unstable and chaotic dating back to Jon Robinson's firing, the larger issue has been hiring the wrong people (Ran Carthon, Brian Callahan) as opposed to having a quick-trigger on firings (Vrabel got six full seasons, peaked from 2019-21, and finished his tenure with a 6-18 record over his last 24 games. That, to me, is not a quick trigger, regardless if you feel that firing him was a mistake or not. Jon Robinson also had 6 years, and his last 3 drafts were some of the worst of the century. Did he really deserve more time to right the ship? Up for debate, I suppose).

If this article was written after Carthon's firing a year ago, I wouldn't take issue with it. But I think part of the point of Brinker & Borgonzi's roles is to bring that stability that has been lacking for so long.

Again, I could be proven incorrect in a hurry if Brinker gets the axe next. But I really don't expect that to happen. I think the organization knows how important it is to find some stability and I think that's what they're striving for now.
