@SFSEgo It's very very simple. It's uncompressed assets. Likelihood is that after games like COD set this precedent with little to no penalty to game sales, the build size budget is stupid high.
Artists making the best asset possible, and not having to optimize them is way faster.
@Thrilluwu The price of Quest 2 was one thing, but also there was still a lack of software back then. I think, with today's available games (and upcoming ones) we're going to see a whole lot more organic growth in VR (and hopefully MR) thanks to this device.
@OutSpiralling@Thrilluwu $200 is not just a little bit more for a lot of people. There's many people working in close to minimum wage jobs, or kids whose parents can't stretch that far who are crying out about how VR is too expensive. Now, it's literally the cheapest new gaming device you can buy.
@PhilipProudfoot Did Starmer run on technocracy though?
I thought he was just the "Not the conservative party" choice.
It was no secret to me this cabinet would fail to unite the country, and we end up being given the eventual ultimatum of "Doom presented as patriotism" vs "more of the same".
@FreyaHolmer Now, make the portal handle out of some super lightweight and strong material, and pitch it faster than the speed of sound. Congrats, you have made a bullet hammer.
@cixliv This is probably the worst trade-off when working in a speculative and nascent tech field.
Competition can drive innovation, but it also throttles the dissemination of good ideas due to the "wild west" mentality.
