FDR made Robert Post of the NYT wear a dunce cap and stand in the corner. FDR awarded John O’Donnell of New York Daily News a Nazi Iron Cross for aiding and abetting the Germans.
Beyond the list of recent revocations of passes, there is a long history of Presidents punishing yellow journalism. The fundamental argument here is correct.
The President is not required to speak to reporters at all.
The press pool is a non-public, voluntarily act by the White House to give information directly to the public.
Access to the President and White House is a privilege conditioned on sharing objective facts with the public.
When those conditions are not met, privilege can be revoked. This is common sense.
This cartel of for-profit Opinion & Editorial Entertainment Outlets are not journalist organizations. If they don’t want to report the news, then they should not be granted the privileges extended to journalists.
@thefurlinator You’re crazy.
President Obama nationalized the federal loan program, granting the presidency control of federal student loans.
Subsidized federal loans are underwritten by the federal government.
President Trump was elected to run the federal government.
@GoldenAgePage@RealSKeshel The same thing happened during the presidential election. Democrat signs everywhere, while the silent majority stayed silent and became the majority. The City of Galveston also tends to lean blue.
@realjdburn Yes, the federal government is withdrawing from participation in predatory loan practices against poor people.
What exactly is your complaint?
@DavidfromMd2 If government is not in the student loan business in any shape, way or form…
Then there would be no subsidized federal loans.
So what exactly are you complaining about?
Yes, I assure you, they can. It starts with streamlining their administrative overhead and eliminate bullshit courses that fluff out a 4 year plan.
You are not wrong that probably half of coursework could be automated or simply learned independently and the result would be the same.
It's so much worse than you all realize.
There's $1.8 Trillion in outstanding student loan debt. It just keeps going up.
It is completely irresponsible for the federal government to be subsidizing these loans. We're knowingly sending people to financial ruin.
Some examples:
I swear these people are deliberately obtuse. And that's because they're afraid of any reduction of revenue to already-wealthy universities.
SCHOOLS ARE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF STUDENT LOANS. There's literally a direct correlation between how much access to student loans a private non-profit school has and their tuition rates.
In 2010 Obama helped fund the ACA by nationalizing the student loan program. This same law also uncapped graduate student borrowing. As a result, tons of new Masters programs popped up including an explosion in MSWs making it the new "industry standard".
We can go back...
@3ambedtimeguy How the fuck did you spend $118,000 on college and in another post you’re saying you only pay $93 a month?
YOU are literally the problem here.
@Ryan_Gilliam15 lol how the fuck would you know? You’re still in college 😂
“Oh I studied it. I had a 3 week internship”
Damn dude, life is gonna hit you hard.
@Katawaboo02@imdacraic No, you remove the unlimited loan money and prices will fall. It’s basic economics.
And K-12 isn’t free. It’s paid for by a massive property tax burden.
