Even if Democrats flip both chambers, they cannot stop the war on Iran, and the reason runs deeper than party politics.
■ Democrats and Republicans share the same goal: destroying the Islamic Republic and the Axis of Resistance. Their disagreements are tactical, not principled.
■ As documented in Indigenous scholar Nick Estes' (@nickwestes) 2025 article "US Imperialism Is an Indian War," executive war powers without Congressional authorization trace directly back to the "Indian Wars" and US genocide of Indigenous peoples. The 2018 DOJ opinion authorizing Trump's attacks on Syria cites George Washington's 1790 offensive against the Northwest Indian Confederacy as its first precedent.
■ Estes critiques debates over congressional authorization for “[recycling] the fiction of a lawful US empire.” While the targets have shifted from the Indigenous nations to communism to “terrorism” to “cartels,” the US has always waged unilateral wars against whoever it casts outside of “civilization.”
How about you keep South Lebanon out of your mouth and stop lecturing us southerners on what to call the land we come from, the land our families have lived on for generations, and the land being systematically annihilated by Israeli terrorists?
And to those rushing to applaud this argument, nodding along like little puppies because it sounds sufficiently anti-Zionist: OPEN YOUR EYES. Look at what the NATIVES of this land actually call it. Listen to the people who LIVE there, who come from there, who have buried their loved ones there, who have been displaced from it, and who are fighting to remain on it.
You don't get to erase our regional identity in the name of fighting Zionist linguistic erasure. You don't get to dictate our geography, rewrite our vocabulary or tell us that calling our home South Lebanon somehow makes us complicit in the occupation.
South Lebanon is Lebanon. Its people are Lebanese. Its identity is not up for your ideological reinterpretation. Calling it South Lebanon does not make it any less Lebanese, any less sovereign or any less deserving of liberation.
And frankly, even if you mean well, spare us the colonial arrogance of telling indigenous people how to name their own land. Zionism doesn't get to dictate our language, but neither do self-appointed guardians of anti-Zionist discourse.
You cannot claim to stand with the people of a land while simultaneously telling them what they are allowed to call their own home.

With all due respect to everyone sharing this sentiment, as well-intentioned as you may be, but referring to the area as south Lebanon isn't a concession to external narratives but a testament to our distinct history and lived reality.
Furthermore, calling the region Al Janoub (south Lebanon) is rooted in an indigenous history that is centuries older than modern Lebanon itself: Jabal Amel. Long before 1920 and the creation of the modern Lebanese state, the people of the South were identified as Amelis, with their own distinct cultural, agricultural and scholarly heritage spanning from the Awali River to the Galilee.
According to Al-Manar field correspondent @sayedhashem90, reporting from the border area between Hariss and Haddatha in southern Lebanon, local residents are defying traditional economic rules by reopening small commercial businesses in an area subjected to near-daily Israeli shelling and proximity to occupied Palestine.
Shopkeepers have repeatedly rebuilt and reopened their stores after previous locations were destroyed by Israeli strikes. These efforts are not profit-driven ventures, but are a deliberate strategy of territorial presence and personal responsibility to prevent forced displacement, with business owners adapting by offering delivery services to keep the remaining community supplied with essential household goods.
According to interviewees featured in the piece, local residents are enduring extreme financial hardship and shrapnel damage to their homes while receiving no material support from the Lebanese state.
Despite these conditions, locals refuse to leave, using these reopened storefronts as social gathering points where cultural expressions and poetry about land ownership are passed down to younger generations.
Anonymous submission: Actionists disable Flock cameras in downtown Manhattan on Halloween
"We dipped our toes into the global call for halloween deflocking, at Broadway and Canal in Manhattan. There are so many to hit, join us! Paint filled fire extinguishers are fun! Cordless power saws also look fun!
The stories of cops abusing flock and ALPR cameras are endless, the most egregious we've heard yet is a cop using it to stalk a child for sex! Down with the surveillance state!"
My family and I are scrambling to make sure our house is as airtight as possible, so in the event of radioactive dust blowing in our direction the least amount enters.
Fully installing the water cooler we didn't get around to yet so air doesn't get into the air duct. Installing the hoods in the other kitchen so the air doesn't come in from the air duct. Fixing a cracked window (using glue as a last resort if we can't fix it by the end of this week).
My 2 year old daughter is an absolute angel and doesn't deserve any of this. Her soiled diapers are worth more than the entire Epstein class combined. May God's eternal curse be on them and may their system collapse as soon as possible so this backwards world can breathe free. I can't wait for Jesus Christ to whip these antichrist servants like he whipped the money changers 2,000 years ago.
Tonight I was in the car with my family going out for dinner and my niece (12 years old) started explaining to me how to protect ourselves if the US nukes Iran. She was fact-checking with me about how long the contamination would last and how far it would spread. I wish the same conversation for our enemies.
“The complaint is not only vague and weak, it’s not normal,” said Aitor Martínez, one of Chambers’s Spain-based lawyers. “In 20 years of practice, I’ve never seen a U.S. extradition request based on a criminal complaint.”

Fergie Chambers is jailed in Spain whilst fighting extradition to the US, even though there is no indictment against him.
The US tried to force two people to testify against Fergie in order to secure charges, but they refused.
He shouldn't be in prison.

The US use of a nuclear weapon against Iran would be the ultimate admission of its military failures: unable to defeat Iran in the battlefield despite huge US advantages, its only answer being committing nuclear holocaust.
And even then, Iran wouldn't be defeated.
If the Epstein Coalition attacks Iran, I will stay active online wherever there is a stable internet connection. If I am targeted, the best person to contact for interviews and for names of others suitable for such activism is @Gh_Tari.
We have no fear.
Good to see more orgs join the push to end Elbit, but it’s notable DSA’s refusal to mention Pal Action whatsoever or credit it by name for launching the global campaign to shut Elbit down SIX years ago. Is it because they’re too scared to name Palestine Action by name as it’s being targeted by the US and British government?
Meanwhile, the image used on the second slide of this post is from a direct action I and 3 other people were imprisoned for participating in against Elbit in New Hampshire, with Pal Action US, and state repression is still targeting us and our comrades related to this action to this day. The paint on the Elbit sign in the image I personally put there myself and served jail time for. But I’m guessing this campaign will focus more on lobbying and performance than direct action, while they use what we did for their graphic design aesthetics.
What they choose to leave out of this post says a lot about DSA.
You’ve probably heard the name Elbit (now Twenty-Six Defense) before, but what is it, and why do we need to force it out of the U.S.? Join us for our arms embargo campaign launch call on 10/29 to learn more

One of the only countries Martyr Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei ever visited outside of Iran was North Korea, accurately known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). What is the history of the Iran-DPRK strategic relationship, given their shared objectives of resisting imperialist siege and establishing deterrence against the US?

These people live in Narnia.
Miguel Díaz-Canel is President of Cuba since 2019, and 1st Secretary of the PCC since 2021.
Regardless of the person in charge in Cuba, we have a plan A, B, C, D, E, and so on, for whatever ridiculous plan the U.S. has in store.
What is truly repugnant is how U.S. politicians gamble with the lives of the Cuban people, pushing for collective punishment while the people suffer, solely to satisfy a handful of Miami campaign donors.
